GTA Centre

The GTA Centre & Master Plan, developed as a public-private partnership, proposed creating a new district anchored by a state-of-the-art event center and a vibrant mix of offices, hotels, condominiums, restaurants, and retail establishments. BBB Architects collaborated with private investors, the City, and the venue operator to explore the overall site development, the initial design of the 20,000-capacity GTA Centre, enhancements to the public realm, and integration with the GO Transit network. Given Markham’s central location in the GTA, the development emphasized making this both a day and night “place to be” beyond downtown Toronto. The event centre itself was designed to accommodate a variety of uses, including NHL hockey games, concerts, and events.
