BBB Architects was the lead consultant for the design and renovation of a 14-acre site on the Bosphurus Sea in Istanbul, Turkey. The project creates a seaside village with hotels, restaurants, cafés, residential, and a small marina. The project is centred around a series of public squares and piazzas, all with views of the water. Several of the existing warehouses, which were mandated to be preserved, are six and seven-storey buildings with four to five metre ceilings heights. These buildings are going through an adaptive reuse to be converted into loft condominiums with many cut and fill areas within, to create terraces and green spaces. There is a considerable slope on the site, with some of the residential buildings tucked into the hill in an organic form, which creates magnificent views for the occupants and also helps stabilize the hillside.
